There is almost nothing more beautiful than roaming through nature
Whether as a rider on wheels or on hooves.
However, noble knights show respect!
Because: a bicycle does not frighten - horses, on the other hand, do - their reaction to this is "flight as defense".
For a harmonious coexistence of bikers and riders/horses, we have summarized how you should behave as a cyclist when you encounter (especially in the "blind spot") a horse with or without a rider.
⇒ It is best to draw attention to yourself with your voice - a "Grüezi" always makes a good impression anyway. Horses are used to people's voices and will not be surprised that way.
⇒ When approaching, it is also appropriate to slow down enough so that you would be able to react in case of an incident. However, you should also not brake abruptly or loudly next to the horse or make surprising maneuvers.
⇒ When overtaking slowly, you should maintain a minimum lateral distance of about 1.5 meters, and a distance of 3 meters behind the horse. This way you will also not be hit should the horse kick out. If a horse cannot see a danger and is surprised by a noise, it may turn abruptly or jump to the side out of panic, despite 400-600 kilograms of body weight.
More respect results in more joy
