The Susy Utzinger Foundation stands for sustainable, animal-friendly and efficient animal welfare. This means sometimes drawing consequences.
The SUST has been supporting the Bluemoon Animal Center intensively for many years in the following areas:
- Planning of the animal shelter construction and its realization
- Establishment of a veterinary clinic in which street animals can be treated free of charge
- Assignments with proven experts from Switzerland, who have trained and educated the local veterinarians and animal welfare workers with a lot of motivation
- Professional support in discussions with local authorities and important agencies
During these years, the project has grown considerably and with it the number of animals and staff. This growth presented the local animal shelter management with new, major challenges, both in terms of organizational and animal welfare aspects.
Here, too, we provided active support: On the occasion of a reorganization, the activities of the project were to be steered back into sustainable, animal welfare-compliant channels and the veterinary level was to be raised with targeted further training. For this purpose, SUST spared neither time nor money: employees were withdrawn for this project, several on-site missions were financed, and regular meetings were held to discuss the progress and any difficulties.
The Susy Utzinger Foundation stands for sustainable, animal-friendly and efficient animal welfare. The Bluemoon Animal Center no longer meets these requirements.
After many discussions and careful consideration, we have therefore decided with a heavy heart to end our cooperation. To ensure the safety of the animals during the transition period, we will maintain our support until May 2021. This affects both the SUST animal orphanage hospital and the animal shelter sponsorship program.
