When a farmer let his new young cattle out to pasture, some of them escaped and could not be caught. A situation that can quickly become dangerous – for the animals, but also for people.
One of the cattle was discovered in a stream bed. It was calm, but could not be caught.
With the tranquilizer gun, the Large Animal Rescue Service CH/FL (GTRD) numb it gently.
A helicopter then safely transported the sleeping animal to the stable using the Animal Rescue and Transport Network (TBTN).

And then: The helicopter crew spotted another escaped cow from the air. The team was able to tranquilize this one as well from a safe distance and bring it home by helicopter.
Such operations are complex and expensive. The GTRD performs extremely important work in these situations. They search for and locate the animals, tranquilize them if necessary, install specially designed, animal-friendly rescue nets, prepare everything for the helicopter flight, and coordinate the rescue operation.
Thanks to the widespread Rega patron membership, helicopter deployment is covered in most cases. However, thanks to the SUST (Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board), the highly professional rescue work of the large animal rescue service is also financed, thus enabling its use in many cases.
We are grateful for any support that enables us to finance such operations as part of our project "Farm animals also deserve professional rescue".
In service to the animals and the people who care for them.
