The SUST Animal Orphanage in Moreni has been giving stray animals in need a second chance since January 5, 2023: Sick and injured strays receive free, professional treatment, surgery, and nursing care. In addition to emergency cases, spaying and neutering are performed daily, thus humanely and sustainably controlling the overpopulation of stray animals in the region.
Every day in Romania, countless dogs and cats are abandoned, injured, have accidents, and/or become ill – most of them die a miserable death without help. No one cares for these animals. (Passersby usually don't take such animals in distress to the vet for fear of the high costs.) The remaining animals reproduce uncontrollably, producing numerous, unfortunately unwanted, offspring.
The Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare's Orphan Animal Hospital provides refuge and care for stray animals! Accidentally injured, sick, and sick animals receive veterinary care here, and spaying and neutering of dogs and cats is also performed regularly. The Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare organizes and finances the Orphan Animal Hospital in Moreni, covering veterinary costs, medications, surgeries, therapies, and care.
In addition to providing free castrations and treatments for street animals, SUST is also actively involved in other areas to find sustainable solutions to local animal welfare problems: training and further education of specialists, optimization of animal shelters, information and education of the population, and promotion of the placement of homeless animals directly within the country.
