Since its opening, the SUST animal orphanages have been receiving injured and sick animals daily, where they receive expert care and attention. Once the animals have recovered and are healthy and strong enough to survive on the streets, they are released back into their territory. Animals with particular needs are placed in animal shelters whenever possible. Fortunately, new homes are also being found for patients on an ongoing basis.
The Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare finances veterinary costs, clinic equipment, medications, surgeries, therapies, food, and care in animal orphanages. The foundation often also finances the construction of the clinic itself.
The activities of the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare are financed exclusively through donations and bequests (no support from the public sector).
