Animal shelter support

This is how shelter animals are helped

During the time animals spend in a shelter, they are entitled to species-appropriate housing (where possible), veterinary care, and professional grooming. Simple wishes, the fulfillment of which is often complex and expensive.

The reorganization efforts of SUST support numerous animal shelters and animal welfare projects both domestically and internationally, helping to ensure that crucial factors are met. This enables struggling organizations to grow into reputable and independent animal welfare organizations that can provide countless animals with suitable accommodation and loving new homes in the future. Optimizing an animal shelter and transforming it into a professional animal welfare organization typically requires years of collaboration and support.

This is how shelter animals are helped

This support can take many different forms: Sometimes the experts at the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare organize an entire animal shelter renovation, they provide first aid to animals, train specialists, and carry out castration and aid campaigns.
In dialogue with the animal rights activists concerned, the restructuring of animal shelters, advice on the establishment and management of animal welfare projects, and the further training of experts are being addressed.

  • Conducting volunteer days in Swiss animal shelters
  • Conducting volunteer weeks in foreign animal shelters
  • Structural alteration/addition to animal shelter facilities
  • Reorganization of animal shelter processes
  • Coordination and financing of craftsmen and construction work
  • Delivery of pet food
  • Delivery of animal shelter supplies (80-100 tons of animal supplies leave the SUST warehouse annually)
  • Delivery of building materials
  • Financing of feed and other materials
  • Provision of emergency and direct aid
  • Management of the SUST material collection campaign

In many cases, SUST provides direct assistance without third parties ever being aware of it. Emergency scenarios and plans are drawn up in no time, experts are dispatched, and aid operations are carried out – in emergencies, this organization provides fast, unbureaucratic, and discreet help. When animal shelters need help, the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare is there for them.

The activities of the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare are financed exclusively through donations and bequests (no support from the public sector).
