Feeding points for street animals in Goma

In the far east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the area of the city of Goma and the Virunga National Park, animals and people live in horrific conditions: For years, armed groups have been fighting each other, trying to gain control of the resource-rich region. Atrocities occur repeatedly, and people flee their villages or are driven out. The animals are then left behind.

Natural disasters such as the eruption of the Nyirangogo volcano also lead to extremely precarious situations for all living beings.

Together with our partner organization IDPE, we provide food donations for people who barely have enough to eat for themselves, let alone for their animals. We also maintain feeding stations where abandoned animals can find food – and at the same time, we administer rabies vaccinations and parasite control.
