In many parts of Switzerland, there are feral cats that belong to no one and give birth to kittens twice a year. Normally, these kittens also become feral and no one cares for them – ultimately, such cat colonies are often killed using cruel methods.
Therefore, it is not enough to simply feed such cat colonies or individual feral cats – real animal welfare means catching feral cats, having them neutered and then (if possible) releasing them back into their familiar surroundings (and continuing to care for them).
