Animal welfare internships

Since 2018, our animal welfare volunteers, after completing mandatory training, have been able to undertake a three-week internship at our SUST shelter in Galati, Romania. These internships, lasting at least three weeks, take place at the SUST animal shelter and the adjacent animal orphanage run by the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare (depending on the participants' skills). The aim of the animal welfare volunteer program is to familiarize participants with the local animal welfare situation in Romania, as well as with direct animal welfare work, and to provide them with practical experience in the daily operations of the shelter and animal hospital. This also automatically clarifies the importance of sustainable animal welfare work. The specific tasks are tailored to the participant's skills and knowledge, as well as the workload within the organization.
