Initial and continuing education

Training and further education of skilled workers

"Let's tackle the problem at its root" is the guiding principle of the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare. Besides optimizing animal shelters and spay/neuter campaigns in Switzerland and many other countries, the training and continuing education of veterinarians and animal welfare advocates is a key pillar of this philosophy: SUST veterinary training courses are known for their quality and efficiency.

Animal rights activists learn basic principles for handling and caring for animals and for managing animal shelters; veterinarians are brought up to date on the latest castration techniques by internationally recognized colleagues and learn new and important information for carrying out such campaigns.

Laying the foundation

This lays the foundation for further successful neutering campaigns that meet the quality standards demanded by the SUST (Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board): Countless unwanted offspring will thus be prevented from being born and suffering. It has been proven that the overpopulation of dogs and cats can only be controlled in the long term and humanely through neutering campaigns.

Because that's how what we set out to achieve in our animal welfare work happens: The problem is tackled at its root!

The following fall under the pillar "Training and further education of skilled workers":
  • Courses at the SUST Academy
  • Veterinary training courses in various countries
  • Animal rights seminars in various countries
  • ERFA events in Switzerland
  • Internships for veterinarians, students and veterinary assistants in various countries
  • Trainee program for young Swiss veterinarians by SUST and Kompanima

  • Co-financing of training centers

The activities of the Susy Utzinger Foundation for Animal Welfare are financed exclusively through donations and bequests (no support from the public sector).
