At the beginning of June, the Large Animal Rescue Service CH/FL (GTRD) had to respond to an especially challenging rescue operation. An escaped cow had fallen into the Rhine and got stuck in the mud. Unable to free itself, it had to be secured in collaboration with the local fire department and airlifted from its dire situation by Rega.

Fortunately, the cow survived its ordeal unscathed thanks to the dedicated intervention of the rescue teams. While most horse emergencies are covered by insurance or privately funded by their owners, the costs incurred in the rescue of so-called livestock often present financial challenges for the affected farmers. To ensure these crucial operations can still take place, SUST has been running the campaign "Even Livestock Deserve Professional Rescue" in collaboration with GTRD since 2014, covering the uncovered costs for the rescue of so-called livestock.
