So colorful…

June 2024

The Venezuela Amazon parrot was admitted to our SUST Orphan Animal Hospital in Peru a few days ago. She was about to be sold as a pet on the wildlife black market but was fortunately confiscated along with many other Amazon parrots, monkeys, and turtles by the Peruvian police.

Upon arrival at the OAH, all the animals were carefully examined, and this pretty female bird was found to have an old wound in her abdominal area. She was then brought to our operating room. In the picture, you can see our SUST veterinarian Samira treating, cleaning, and dressing the wound.

The team has their hands full with the many new animals, yet SUST veterinarian Carlotta took the time to report the good news from the jungle: ❝She is now recovering and will soon move to a larger enclosure!❞

Thank you for making the professional animal welfare work of SUST possible with your donations and thus actively helping to preserve wildlife species!
