Even at an outside temperature of just 15 degrees, the interior of a parked vehicle can quickly become dangerously hot under direct sunlight. Even slightly open windows do NOT provide sufficient cooling. Within minutes, a dog in an overheated car can suffer a fatal heat stroke.
If you discover a dog in an overheated car:
- Look for the dog's owner and raise the alarm.
- If you can't find them: Call the police.
- If it's a matter of life and death: Rescue the dog.
