In the picture, you see 13-year-old Mitzu and her owner, who have been an inseparable team for many years. Mitzu's owner noticed a worrying change: Mitzu's belly was significantly enlarged. He was very concerned about his loyal companion because he knew he could never afford treatment or surgery.

Fortunately, the two ended up with Dr. Sabina Proca at the SUST-OAH Bucharest (RO). The SUST emergency aid covers costs for urgently needed operations—and Mitzu was in urgent need. At the first examination, Mitzu weighed 3.3 kg. Dr. Proca quickly identified the possible cause of the swelling: a pyometra (severe uterine infection) and administered antibiotics, vitamins, and fluids to stabilize Mitzu. The operation was scheduled for three days later.

An astonishing 1.8 kg of infected material was removed from Mitzu's body—a life-saving procedure that wouldn't have been possible without your donations! Mitzu spent two weeks in the clinic after the operation and was well cared for. She has recovered very well, and with renewed strength and health, the team is now ready for a new beginning.
