A very special animal...

A Tamandua!
We named him Kasmir. The little anteater is only a few months old and therefore still dependent on milk. In the wild, young of this species stay with their mother for up to a year. Kasmir is therefore under intensive care and in addition to milk, he receives a piece of termite nest several times a day! That's mainly what tree-dwelling anteaters eat. Furthermore, he is taken for a walk twice a day in the jungle, where he can climb trees and search for ants. SUST veterinarian Carlotta writes: "Even though these animals are very sensitive and not easy to raise by human hands, Kasmir is doing very well so far in the animal orphanage hospital. It's a joy to watch him dig for insects with his claws and then slurp them up with his long tongue."
