With her foundation, Susy Utzinger saves the lives of thousands of animals every year. Her book "Homeless - from the diary of an animal welfarist " (German:«Heimatlos – aus dem Tagebuch einer Tierschützerin») gives insight into this work - and into the life of the most well-known Swiss animal welfarist.
"Homeless" (only available in German) is a gripping but not easy reading. Reports on moving animal protection missions at home and abroad, in addition photos of neglected and suffering animals drive the tears into the eyes, release anger and helplessness. "How can humans do to animals such a thing", one asks oneself as a reader, as readers. And luckily finds the other stories. Those that end happily, give courage. Success stories, which are owed to committed people like Susy Utzinger and her foundation. In "Homeless" the animal welfarist lets the past twenty years of its work revue happen. She tells of her fascination for animals and her untiring pioneer work for the lasting animal protection, which is more than a bowl water and sufficient fodder, i.e. correctly hard work.
"Homeless" also gives insight into Utzinger's private life with a difficult childhood. And throws a critical view of today's animal protection. The biography of the 51-year-old from Zurich shows in an impressive way how one pursues a mission and never lets oneself be dissuaded despite all adversities and setbacks.
