Cats - Q&A's

zurück

Am I allowed to feed the neighbor's cat?

Feeding other people's animals with harmless food is not prohibited in principle.

Anyone who does this only occasionally does not usually have to fear any legal consequences. The situation is different if you feed other people's animals regularly or even systematically, so that they no longer want to return home. If a discussion between the parties involved does not lead to anything, the animal owner can file a civil suit requesting that the judge prohibit the defendant (feeder) from continuing to feed the plaintiff's animal under simultaneous threat of punishment according to Art. 292 StGB if the defendant does not comply with the judgment. In this case, the plaintiff may later file a criminal complaint.
