Working day at the Hodel sanctuary

On 20 June 2020, a large SUST team was working at the Hodel sanctuary, carrying out work that would otherwise be neglected for capacity reasons.

Stables were mucked out, an emergency box built, cleared out and tidied up, plaque weeded, mowed and much more.

While animal shelters and mercy courts all over Switzerland fight daily for their existence and take care of the costly care of their orphans, it can happen that important points in their everyday life as an animal shelter are neglected. Since 2000, the animal shelter support of the usy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation has continued to help where animal shelters reach their limits: It is part of the daily work of the SUST experts to carry out days of work in animal shelters, where SUST teams tackle long overdue work, to modify or supplement animal shelter facilities, to reorganize animal shelter procedures, to coordinate craftsmen's work (and to bear their costs) and to deliver animal food, shelter utensils and building materials to animal shelters throughout Switzerland. Here, animal welfare workers use their free time, expertise and energy to help homeless animals free of charge.
