Help animals

The activities of SUST

All over the world, countless animals in overcrowded shelters live sadly or struggle for their survival in wild colonies. Day after day, even today, animals that have become inconvenient are still abandoned, deported or mistakenly kept for lack of better knowledge. The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation contributes with effective means to the fact that animal suffering can be reduced or even prevented sustainably.

This animal welfare work is based on four pillars:

1. Competence Centre Animal Shelter: Animal shelters become high-quality transition stations for homeless animals, where animals are kept and promoted in a way that is appropriate for their species and finally transferred to good new places.

2. Neutering campaigns: Braking the animal misery

3. Education and training of specialists: Specialists are given the opportunity to optimise their knowledge and improve animal welfare.

4. Education of the population: love of animals with heart and mind

These four elements form the important basis for sustainable animal welfare projects.

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of this reconstruction work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need the emergency aid of SUST.

Woohoo! Susanne I. is taking on Ella's starter sponsorship!

February 2025

Ella belonged to someone who barely cared for her. She mostly lived on the streets and only returned home for food. She gave birth to numerous puppies, many of whom did not survive due to a lack of care.
With great persistence, our team member Marcela recently managed to convince Ella’s owner to allow her to be spayed for free at our SUST Orphan Animal Hospital in Galați, Romania.

During the short time she was in our care for her spay surgery, Ella developed a deep bond with Marcela. She refused to stay with her original owner and even ran after the bus that took Marcela to work.
Our Romanian colleagues couldn’t bear the thought of exposing Ella to the dangers of street life again—so she stayed with us.
Star sponsor Susanne I. supported the SUST Orphan Animal Hospital with a one-time donation of CHF 100 to cover some of Ella’s expenses.
As a token of appreciation, she will receive a beautiful certificate with Ella’s photo and the heartwarming certainty that she has given a dog the chance for a safe and happy life.
