Help animals

The activities of SUST

All over the world, countless animals in overcrowded shelters live sadly or struggle for their survival in wild colonies. Day after day, even today, animals that have become inconvenient are still abandoned, deported or mistakenly kept for lack of better knowledge. The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation contributes with effective means to the fact that animal suffering can be reduced or even prevented sustainably.

This animal welfare work is based on four pillars:

1. Competence Centre Animal Shelter: Animal shelters become high-quality transition stations for homeless animals, where animals are kept and promoted in a way that is appropriate for their species and finally transferred to good new places.

2. Neutering campaigns: Braking the animal misery

3. Education and training of specialists: Specialists are given the opportunity to optimise their knowledge and improve animal welfare.

4. Education of the population: love of animals with heart and mind

These four elements form the important basis for sustainable animal welfare projects.

Those animals that are not yet able to benefit from the effects of this reconstruction work and have been born into a world where they are not wanted need the emergency aid of SUST.

A special rescue...

October 2024

Goma is located in an impressive landscape in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo, directly on Lake Kivu, one of the deepest lakes in Africa. However, Goma has to struggle with sad humanitarian challenges, many people are so-called internally displaced persons. Many pets are left behind during these displacements and suffer from neglect and abuse.
Our partner organization “Innovation pour le Développement et la Protection de l'Environnement” (IDPE) takes care of these animals.
A particularly tragic incident occurred at the end of September:
A female dog with 10 puppies was killed by armed groups. The puppies were found in a critical condition - but fortunately. The finders immediately informed the IDPE.
Thanks to the vehicle, which was financed by SUST, the team was able to be on site quickly to help the cute puppies in need. IDPE took care of the puppies, giving them food, water and the necessary medical treatment.
Your support helps to ensure that this help is possible and that more and more people know about the possibility of free help and do not let animals die in agony, but protect them even in these difficult times and ensure their chances of survival.
Thank you!
