SUST animal shelter support: How shelter animals are helped
While animal shelters all over Switzerland are struggling for their existence every day and take care of their orphans, it can happen that important points in their daily lives are neglected.

It is part of the daily work of the SUST experts to carry out work days in animal shelters where teams of the SUST tackle long overdue tasks, change or supplement shelter facilities, reorganize shelter processes, coordinate (and take over the costs of) craftsman's work and supply animal feed, shelter equipment and building materials in shelters throughout Switzerland.
In dialogue with the animal welfare activists concerned, the restructuring of animal shelters, advice on setting up and managing animal welfare projects and the further training of experts are addressed. In many cases, SUST provides direct aid without any third party ever knowing about it. Emergency scenarios and plans are set up in no time at all, experts are dispatched and assistance operations are carried out - in emergencies, the organisation provides fast, unbureaucratic and discreet help. When shelters need help, the Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation is there for them.
Cats' neutering campaigns in Switzerland
In many Swiss areas live feral cats, which belong to no one and give birth twice a year on average to kittens. Normally these kittens then also become feral and nobody cares about it - in the end such cat colonies are killed with often cruel methods.
It is therefore not enough to simply feed such cat colonies - real animal protection is to catch feral cats, have them neutered and then release them (if possible) cared for at their old place of residence. The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation continuously supports active animal friends who are planning neutering campaigns for cat colonies.
Around 40 veterinary clinics and practices throughout Switzerland are participating in the cats neutering campaigns of the Susy Utzinger Animal Protection Foundation, informing their customers and operating at reduced rates. In 2016, SUST was able to organize and finance over 400 cat neuterings in cooperation with experienced Swiss veterinarians. These animals were operated in hygienic Swiss veterinary practices and clinics.
The Susy Utzinger Animal Welfare Foundation provides information on cat neutering (by means of posters and press releases) throughout Switzerland and submits its guide "Cat neutering campaigns = active animal protection" free of charge. In addition, cat traps, transport boxes and other material for cats neutering campaigns, as well as food for the care of neutered cat colonies throughout Switzerland are continuously being handed in.
