The SUST castration campaigns at the Black Sea in Romania are urgently needed and unfortunately take place delayed due to the Corona crisis in 2020. This showed sad consequences: Most of the homeless bitches and cats already gave birth to kittens this year, which are now also fighting for survival on the streets. Our team on site saw a sad picture: "It seemed as if there was no end to the flood of animals" said SUST veterinarian Dr. Irina Corbu.
The team on site gave their very best and performed unbelievably late into the night every day: a total of 323 animals were neutered during the 4-day campaign. An unbelievable achievement, especially when you consider that many of the shy street animals first had to be caught and transported by veterinarian Dr. Ovidiu Rosu with an anesthetic gun or blowpipe.
Most of the animals suffered severely from parasites (fleas, ticks as well as endoparasites). Therefore, they also received additional parasite treatment.
